Writer...Interrupted

“Whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” 1 Corinthians 10:31

As iron sharpens iron, let's encourage each other on this journey of interrupted writing and faith.

Who We Are!

We're Christian writers who love the Lord, believe Jesus is the only Savior, and serve him whole heartily. We're men and women, learning from each other, and growing in our craft and Christian faith as we pursue publication.

We're parents, spouses, caregivers, and employees whose writing is interrupted by daily tasks.

Picture 005

We're learning to be content in this season God has called us to and honor him in everything we do.

If you feel you're a kindred spirit, then you're welcome to join our community!

Community Guidelines

"Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things." Philippians4:8 NAS

I want this community to be a safe place for us to share our faith and writing experiences. So I'm asking that we keep the community clean, focused, and on topic. People who stray from these guidelines will be removed.

(And unfortunately I have no control over the Google Ads:)

Tell-a-Marketer

Come and listen, all you who fear God; let me tell you what he has done for me. Psalm 66:16 NIV   Brrrriiiiinnngggg! The shrill of the phone interrupts the race across the keyboard as my fingers pour out thoughts.  “Hello,” I say in my nicest “you’ve-just-messed-up-my-thought-process” voice.  “Mrs., umm- Hatcher?” A telemarketer.  I know instantly I’m not [...]

$26

You would think $26 wouldn’t make so much difference, but I remember that amount like it was the hinge my life swung on. And maybe at the time it did. I was just weeks from having all of my college classes behind me (still had student teaching, but I had a summer to save for [...]

Putting it all together to write your hook!

Hey Everyone!  Happy Fiction Friday!  For the last month we’ve been talking about HOOKing the reader you’re your story.  I hope you remember the SHARP acronym!    S-Stakes H – Hero/Heroine Identification A – Anchoring R – Staring the story on the RUN P – The problem or Story question.   Today, I’m going to give you just a handful of examples [...]

Alpha and Omega

I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come,I say; My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.  Isaiah 46:10 (NIV) A good book is hard to come by, isn’t it?  There have been so many times I have been wound up in a plot or the inner workings of [...]

Surviving Reviews

Have you ever wondered what it’s really like to have your own book reviewed by reviewers and readers? Recently I was Interviewed over at Frommipov (a great blog!) and Andie asked how I felt about reviews and how they affect me. I thought it was a great question, especially since my book has only recently been released. Here is [...]

After learning of the disappearance of his nephew, Joe Saunders returns to his childhood home of Dark Hills to aid in the search effort. When Caleb is found, badly mauled and clinging to life, Joe embarks on a mission to find the beast responsible. But the more Joe delves into the fabric of his old hometown, the more he realizes Dark Hills has a dark secret, shrouded for three generations in a deadly code of silence. —Kathryn Mackel, author of Vanished

Mike Dellosso delivers a spine-tingling tale of hidden secrets, buried hopes and second chances...Interwoven through page-turning drama is the truth about vengeance and the triumph of God's mysterious ways.
—Amy Wallace, author of Ransomed Dreams

Something’s coming for you… and you might not be able to stop it. Read this someplace safe as you experience the incredibly descriptive world of The Hunted through the vivid writing and spine-tingling imagination of Mike Dellosso. And sleep with the lights on.
—Austin Boyd, author of the Mars Hill Classified trilogy

With hints of Frank Peretti and Stephen King, The Hunted is a chilling debut. Author Mike Dellosso is certain to make his mark in Christian fiction.
—Creston Mapes, author of Nobody

From page one The Hunted grabbed me by the collar and wouldn’t let go. Full of intrigue, supernatural undertones, and true to life characters, I highly recommend this superb debut novel. —C.J. Darlington, Co-founder & Book Editor, TitleTrakk.com

. . . The Hunted places Dellosso on the list of authors to keep your eye on.

“Washing Day – Avoiding Dingy Whites”

(This was a not too serious a week. I’m redoing my first book. Please be patient and enjoy ;) Separate those clothes into 3 groups: (check the tags for washing instructions) 1. Whites – hot water & bleach 2. Light Colors – warm water or cold, all fabric bleach or Clorox II® 3. Dark Colors – cold water Use a detergent with fabric softener in it, add the softener to your final rinse cycle, or add a fabric softener sheet to your dryer. This prevents static cling and makes clothes smell fresh… Continue

From The Journal

So many thoughts are going on in my head today, thinking about things, mostly good, to focus on the Father, on the Lord and the Holy Spirit. To not do so, brings a sense of hopelessness, of despair, of fear! I want to be where the Father wants me. To stay focused on Him and Him alone. To be one with Him in all areas of my life. I miss my family, my children, my grand-children, of not being where I can be a part of their lives, of being one with them. I see how it breaks the heart of our Fathe… Continue

“Can’t Stop Praising His Name”

“To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.” I Cor. 9:22 “Christian Youth Groups”, “Praise Teams”, “Rappers for Christ”, “Stomp or Stepping Teams”, “Dance or Mime Groups”; no matter what avenue God may have for the Praise & Worship that young people use to adore and honor Him – It’s all Good! DEB RANEY MINI-CONFERENCE A SUCCESS!

Life has been VERY busy. And yes, writing has been interrupted, but it's been all good. Boys are starring in the Jungle Book this weekend and next, will write more on that later, and I just finished up the Deb Raney Mini-Conference put on by the local chapter of ACFW. It was so awesome, with about 27 people in attendance. I didn't get a chance to blog about it, but one of our members wrote a great little piece on it and I figured, why mess with perfection. So here it is! Haven't had time to uplo… Continue

It's Me Lord!!

It sure seems like I have a lot of conversations with the Lord lately! I have discovered that He really likes it when we talk to Him and it really pleases Him when we learn to listen. I am sitting here at Starbuck's having a cup of coffee, looking out the window and ... “Lord! You know there are a lot of questions going on in my mind. Trying to figure things out. Wondering how I can change them. Why are these things happening in my life? “I noticed!” “You Did?” “Ye… Continue

"I Believed The Report of My Lord"

“I’m looking for a miracle. I expect the impossible. I feel the intangible. I see the invisible. The sky is the limit, to what I can have. Just believe and receive it, God will perform it today. If you believe & receive it, God will perform it today” (recorded by The Clark Sisters). Well, here I am after 3 biopsies, 7 creams and potions, and numerous 25-mile trips to the Dermatologist; my report is that “I am healed”. The Doctors have ruled out what they thought my condition might ha… Continue

What Would You Do about Cecil Murphy?

I have a rare opportunity to attend the Cecil Murphy mentoring clinic in my hometown. I sort of have the money, $500. But that's such a HUGE price for an unpublished writer and something my husband doesn't see value in. He's in sales and doesn't see the return on my $500 coming. It's true. It'd be a gamble. Plus, my husband says "I don't think it's your writing ability that's not getting you published." Well, that's a sweet comment, but he's not a reader or writer. There's always so much to lear… Continue

“Standing On The Promises of God”

In order for there to be a “testimony”, there usually are some “tests” that we must “go through”. My next book (Bent But Not Broken) deals with issues of “getting through” different situations in our day-to-day lives. God told me to post this weeks Blog because we must confess (let other know of) our “tests” (things that we may be ‘going through’ and expecting to ‘get out of’) in order for there to be rejoicing over our “testimonies”. It’s what I… Continue
